Vault49 is a design, photography and illustration boutique based outside New York. I came across these in college and loved their work, it's really interesting and different. My Graphic Garden

My Graphic Garden is a boutique design bussiness that i came across while i was surfing the net. It consist of a team of graphic designers/illustrators, and they do a lot of web/logo design and illustration. When you first enter the site your hit by a big back and white floral inspired print which kind of sets the scene for the rest of thier work.I took a look at thier portfolio and its quite nice, it gives a very pretty, femine feel and uses alot of the floral type prints,but i like it. i love typography

I love typography is a cool web site all about type!! It was made to educate the masses about typography and not in a boring way! The site wants to make people more aware of type as it is all around us everywhere we go!! It was made by a graphic designer/writer called John boardley, who has a passion for typography. The site features loads of cool articles based on type like... how to make type, type history and the best fonts '2008'. Identity brief

Our new brief is to develop an identity  - logo and application, working in a group of 5 including myself. We have to compile a list of events and locations. Then we had to create thumbnails of hybrids (a thing made by combining two different elements), from our lists.

Here are some of the idea we have at the moment.... 

UPDATE:  We have decided to go with the stamp idea and have worked on it further and this is what we now have...

Our idea is a Stamp convention in Stockport, we have took the stamp aspect from the convention and the bottom edge of the stamp makes the viaduct in Stockport and the train running over it just enhances the fact its a viaduct. This is not the finished piece but is close.

While we were at Barcelona we were asked to collect videos of pretty much anything in Barcelona, here are some of the videos i collected.

 

2nd year electives

This year we had to chose two electives which would each last for 6 weeks, i chose to do typography and concept studies. In typography we were asked to create a alphabet we were given a selection of word and we had to create a type relating somehow to this words, whether it be a direct link or not. I chose the word disabled, i decided to source images of appliances which disabled people use in everyday life and create a alphabet from these images.

Concept studies is all about ideas and thinking we were asked to think of anything we want really, it was a very open brief. I chose to design a range of poster which would have pictures of car parks, street, houses etc and everything would have a price tag on. The concept behind this idea is that everything evolves around money, and everything comes with a price.

Thoughtful

Thoughtful are a graphic design agency which we have had a lot of contact with this year, made up of three guy's James, Stuart and Chris, they are a fairly young agency with lots of new, fresh ideas. Thoughtful are a 'thoughtful' agency which go by a 'nothing is too much trouble' serivce. These guys aren't about big fancy, show-off things, they are all about good graphic design and a good service towards their customers. After Christmas six students from our class have the chance to work with Thoughtful for 6 months, they are moving into our college and we will become full time graphic designers. This is a once in a life time opportunity and will give the lucky six a head start when we finish this course.
